The postponement of the football fixtures has undoubtedly caused misery for some and uncertainty for a great deal more, but it has had a knock-on effect which benefits a few players.Euro 2020 has been postponed until summer 2021, thus giving injured players like Cenk Tosun a chance to represent their nation in a major tournament.The Turkey international is one of several players who will benefit from the change, as he would have missed out on Euro 2020 after sustaining a knee injury that cut short his loan at Crystal Palace.Tosun took to social media to celebrate the announcement and his post was met with a great deal of excited Turkish fans, who now know that they should have their main striker fit to compete in Europe next year.
The 28-year-old has featured in a major tournament for Turkey before – in Euro 2016 – but he had just 70 minutes of action – with a minute cameo appearance in one match as The Crescent Stars were knocked out in the group stage.

Now he is a senior player in the team this is perhaps his best chance to not only represent his country but to give Turkey a good chance of progressing, and that is something he thought he’d miss out on.
The only concern may be his Everton future and if he gets the necessary game time to prove he should lead the line at Euro 2021, but now he has been gifted a second chance he will likely do whatever he can to make the most of it.
