Harry Kane’s first-half penalty saw England record a 1-0 win over Lithuania in their final 2018 World Cup qualification match on Sunday night.
Kane’s late effort against Slovenia on Thursday had ensured that the Three Lions would be present in next summer’s tournament, and the Tottenham Hotspur forward struck again as England made it eight wins from 10 Group F matches.
On the face of it, England’s qualification campaign was extremely impressive. They dropped just four points en route to securing a spot in Russia, and only conceded three times.
It would be fair to say that the performances have not been great, however, with many England supporters left wanting more after each game.
Granted, head coach Gareth Southgate made wholesale changes for the Lithuania match, but it was still another poor performance from the Three Lions.
As expected, social media has been rife with criticism of the English national team, with many taking to Twitter to air their frustrations once again.
