Aston Villa look like they’re finally back on track following a terrible start to the season and could well be a dark horse in the title race this year.
Although Villa performed well going forward, at the back they were absolutely woeful and as a result, Steve Bruce had to be sacked. In new manager, Dean Smith, Villa have one of the best managerial minds in the game and one that could well take the side into the playoffs.
During his time at Brentford, he had taken the clubto new heights and under his stewardship, the west London side had become a title challenger this season.
This weekend, Smith’s side goes into a tough game Second City Derby and need to pick up the three points to keep up their hunt on Derby who are only four points ahead in sixth.
Ahead of this weekend’s crunch derby, Yannick Bolasie has claimed that Villa are a top two side and this weekend, the players must prove that.
The Breakdown
Since joining the club on loan from Everton for the season, Bolasie has made 10 appearances for the club in the league – all from the bench.
Despite only making cameo appearances, the winger has managed to score two goals while also grabbing an assist. If he can get back to full fitness and form, Villa could have a deadly front three. Combined with Tammy Abraham and Albert Adomah, Smith has arguably one of the best frontlines in the league and with Jack Grealish behind them, from a talent perspective, Bolasie is right, Villa are a top two team.
Villa fans, what do you think?
