Aston Villa devoured League Two outfit Crewe Alexandra 6-1 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening and to even say that would be an understatement.
Villa boss Dean Smith made ten changes to the side that earned them their first Premier League victory of the season against Everton on Friday evening.
Only Jota kept his place whilst debuts were handed to Marvelous Nakamba, Ezri Konsa, and Matt Targett.
Five different players got on the scoresheet with Conor Hourihane netting a brace but it was the goalscoring performance from Keinan Davis, starting ahead of Villa’s club-record signing Wesley, which earned plenty of plaudits on Twitter.
One fan said he was buzzing for Davis after he grabbed a goal on Tuesday night whilst another added that he was absolutely class.
The 21-year-old striker has been at the club since 2015 where he was plucked from Biggleswade Town following a successful one-month trial.
He made his debut in January 2017, coming off the bench in an FA Cup defeat against Tottenham.
The goal on Tuesday night is only the 6 foot 3 forward’s fourth for the club in 46 appearances, per Transfermarkt.
A further supporter claimed Davis is a very good backup option, describing his performance as encouraging whilst one member of the Villa Park faithful said he probably deserved the Man of the Match award.
Here’s the best of the reaction:
