Manchester United’s interest in Thomas Muller is “flattering” for the forward, according to his Bayern Munich team-mate, Arjen Robben.
The Red Devils are reportedly looking at a deal worth around £71m for the German World Cup winner, with Louis van Gaal’s side short on striking options following the exits of Robin van Persie and Radamal Falcao.
The 25-year-old made his Bayern breakthrough as a youngster under LVG, and the Dutchman is rumoured to remain a big fan of the player after being linked with moves for him in his first summer at Old Trafford.

Robben, who used to play for Premier League champions Chelsea, believes that his fellow Bavaria ace is sure to be “flattered” by suggestions that United are willing to pay such a vast sum for him, however he believes that the Allianz Arena hero is happy where he is:
“First of all, I am not sure if it really is true that Thomas Muller receives such an offer but in general it is always nice for a player when such a big club is interested,” he is quoted by ESPN. “We’re all human and have feelings.
“Receiving such an offer is flattering but it doesn’t automatically mean that you are leaving the club. I think the players like it here and Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I love it here.
“But it is always nice when other big clubs are interested — you feel honoured. Sometimes then you choose to go, but sometimes you stay.”
Muller is considered to be one of Germany’s top strikers, and has already netted 10 times in World Cup action – only six short of all-time top scorer, Miroslav Klose.
