Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe became the first player born in the 2000’s to score a goal for the club when he found the back of the net in their 3-0 win at Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday.
Smith-Rowe joined the club’s academy back in 2010 at the age of ten and has been part of new manager Unai Emery’s plans since he took over from Arsène Wenger in May.
The teenager made his first professional appearance for the Gunners from the bench in their opening round clash with Vorskla last month but earned his first start in an Arsenal jersey on Thursday evening, becoming the club’s youngest goalscorer since Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in 2011.
Arsenal fans are thrilled with Smith-Rowe getting his first goal for the club and are excited about the talent and maturity he has shown since the start of the season.
